Batavia Corner Indonesian Restaurant

This is one of my favourite Indonesian restaurant in town. It is located in Albany Highway which is not too far from where I live.
The place was not so big and there wasn't that much customers. Old and authentic photo frames were on the left side of the wall. It is a good place to have lunch. I don't take any photos of the food that I had because at that time I was too hungry that I forgot to take a picture.
Don't worry, I still remember what I had that day. We had 'risoles' (a kind of indonesian spring roll), lemper ayam (glutinous rice with shredded coconut milk in the middle) and pempek (indonesian fish cake with egg yolk in center). This was the first time I ordered risoles and the inside was just too sweet for me. Lemper Ayam and Pempek were just awesome as always.

As the main dish, we had ayam penyet (fried chicken with sambal and sweet soy sauce on top), nasi kuning komplit ( yellow rice with chicken and sambal egg) and soto ayam ambengan ( indonesian chicken glass noodle soup). The ayam penyet and nasi kuning was okay. Soto ayam ambengan was our all-time favourite. We always order that whenever we're here.

I was really satisfied and I will always come to this place. The food is just authentic and scrumptious! yum!

Good Fortune Roast Duck House

For all you Hong Kong food lovers, I recommend you to try this! I never really dine in the restaurant because usually I had this for takeaway and had it with a couple of friends. The place was always crowded with line for either takeaway or dine-in. This is my favourite place to order Hong Kong food. You can never go wrong.
My favourite is their roast duck (definitely), roast pork and bbq pork. They also had the special sauce on the side of it. I am not sure what that is but it definitely made it tastier.

Eat this with rice on the side. It is just perfection. The duck is tender and juicy just the way I like it. And roast pork's skin is crispy if you eat it right away. Bbq pork is perfect as always. Nothing much left to say. Must Try!!

Indonesian Steamed Sponge Cake (Bolu Kukus)

One of my favourite Indonesian's cake! I'm so glad I can share it with you guys. This cake is a little bit tricky though, sometimes the cake might not bloom like the one in the pictures. Don't worry I've tried this recipe and it worked! Good luck!

-250 gram of all purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 200 gram of sugar (can be lesser)
- 1 tablespoon of emulsifier
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 200ml of soda water/ sprite

Mix the eggs and sugar with high speed mixer for 15 minutes

Put in the emulsifier and soda water. Keep mixing for 10 minutes

Pour in the flour and other ingredients (baking soda) while mixing it in low speed

Divide the batter into half or any way you like it. Add chocolate, cocopandan or pandan paste into the batter.

Put in the paper cup into the cupcake mold. Then pour in the batter into the paper cup.

Steam the batter in a hot steamer for 15 minutes.
Give extra space between the molds when steaming the cakes as these cakes need a lot of steams to perfectly rise and crack in the middle.

Hwa Ro Korean Restaurant

I know this Korean restaurant from a friend of mine that had come here for I don't know how many times. She said how awesome this restaurant is and this is why I finally came here with quite a number of people.

When I first walked in, I can see how authentic this place is with the exhaust fan and different kind of stoves for bbq and steamboat.

Also, the server gave us different kind of side dish. All I can remember is the kimchee, glassnoodles and pickles. I must say, my favourite one is the glassnoodles! I can't even remember how many times we asked for refill.

We ordered the seafood pancake and roasted chicken wings as our appetizers. I was pretty satisfied with their seeafood pancake. I love the chicken wings as well, even though one of my friend felt like it is too sweet.

My other friend ordered the beef bulgogi soup as their steamboat. They said that it was too sweet and overpowering. I ordered the Pork Kimchi Soup and I must say that it is much better than the beef bulgogi. It is not too spicy but for me personally it is too sour for some reason. But it is still okay. I was pretty happy.

For the bbq section, we had beef rib and tongue. I was pretty happy with their beef rib. It was what I expected to be. But, the tongue was too rubbery and thick, I was not so satisfied. I was expecting a frozen, thin-cut, rolled, tongue which I usually get in a korean restaurant. This one was pretty hard to eat. I had to cut it into smaller pieces.

I will definitely comeback to this place to explore their menu.

Soy Sauce Chicken over Wonton Noodle

This is a very easy noodle dish that everyone can try at home.
What you need are:

1 roll of wonton noodle
a few dumpling skin
1 baby bokchoy
2 tablespoon of sesame oil

Minced Chicken:
- 150gr of minced chicken
- 4 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 2 cloves of shallots
- a quarter teaspoon of salt
- a dash of pepper

First, stir the garlic, shallot and oil on a hot pan. Then, put in the minced chicken before mixing all of the other sauces.

Cut the wonton skins anyway you like it before deep frying it.

Cut the baby bokchoy before boiling it in hot water.

Boil the wonton noodle for a minute or two. Do not boil too long because it can make too soft very quickly.

Mixed the wonton noodle with sesame oil. Then, put the minced meat on top of the noodle with the veges on the side. To garnish, put the fried dumpling skin on top.

Emma's Dim Sum

My favourite place to have dim sum! When I'm feeling like having asian brunch this is the perfect place to go. For all you dim sum lovers this is a must-try.

It is a very crowded place but I managed to get a seat all the time which is why it is not a problem.

Servers will be pushing the cart to with bamboo containers which contain different kind of food. To describe it, it is a kind of chinese tapas.

Every time you have dimsum, hakaw (the picture below) and shiu mai are a definite must. Personally, I'm not a big fan of hakaw but I love shiu mai.

My personal favourite is their beancurd roll. Veges like carrots, leeks and coriander are rolled with fried beancurd skin. Then it is steamed with oyster sauce which made it just perfect. One portion is definitely not enough for me.

I am not a big fan of rice porridge but this is one of the crowd's favourite. The porridge is really smooth with shredded chicken and fried dumpling skin on top. It's a definite yum!

This is one below is a typical chinese food which is "chicken feet" and I believe not everyone even dare to try it not even me. I am a big fan of chinese food but I still never get to this one. Older generation chinese people will like it but this one is pretty hardcore.

I am not so sure what this one is called but this one is not too bad. The gooey crispy skin with saucy minced meat in the middle is just right.

Some people might call this one calamari which I guess it is pretty close. I always order this whenever I'm here. This is the salt and pepper squid tentacles. Very tastyyy!

Local people will call this "cah-liong". It is a kind of fried chinese doughnut covered with soft skin and dipped in special soy sauce.

This is definitely one of my favourite chinese restaurant that is located in northbridge which is close to most of asian restaurants. I really recommend everyone to try this restaurant.

Kitchen Inn Cafe

This cafe is one of my favourite place to eat noodles! I can't remember how many times I have eaten in this place and I'll never get enough. It's good for dine-in or takeaway. The place is kinda small and there will always be people lining up during lunch or dinner which is why I prefer to get takeaways.

My favourite stir-fried noodle will be the mee mamak goreng. It is spicy and saucy at the same time which make it really good. It is quite a big portion for someone like me. I prefer to eat it twice or more which I don't mind because this is really really good. The homemade noodle is just perfection. Not too soft and not too hard which is just right. The fishcakes and pork crackles just made it even better.

Their other noodle that is my favourite is definitely kolo mee. I don't have the picture but you guys can definitely check it out in urbanspoon. It has minced meat, barbeque pork and prawn over noodle. This is a must-try! For those people that miss home, this authentic restaurant will definitely satisfy your tongue!

S & T Thai Gourmet Cafe

I have always love thai food and this place reminds me why I love it so much. This place is located in the middle of asian stores and other restaurant which is convenient for people to shop after having lunch.

Their pad thai is definitely to die for. I never missed a pad thai every time I come to this place. Their curries are also very delicious. I have tried a variety of curries and still torn between red curry and jungle curry. My favourite soup from this restaurant is definitely tom kha soup. It is a kind of tom yum soup but with coconut milk. Looks can be deceiving because it only looks like a white milky soup but once you taste it. You will know what I mean.

I have been to this place for more than 3 times and I will definitely come for more.

Sayers Sister

I am not usually a big fan of brunch but I am definitely going to come back to this place. There was a long queue when we're waiting to have our table but it's definitely worth it.

We came in a big group of people but we did get our table. Everyone was really satisfied with their food.

I had the poached eggs and bacon on toasted ciabatta. It was perfection. For people that don't really eat breakfast like me, you will definitely enjoy this dish.

The rustic interior design of the place really makes you feel like you want to stay a little bit longer. It is just a good place to hang out and enjoy the food.People can really feel the vibe of Perth's Lifestyle.
